At Medborgarplatsen, in the middle of Söderhallarna, Space Development Group (SDG) is developing Gränd – a vibrant meeting place that combines genuine beer culture from around the world with a diverse dining experience in a Scandinavian setting.
Gränd will be an authentic taste journey through the world’s top beer nations, where beer and food are combined in perfect harmony – and each cuisine reflects the taste, traditions and character of its respective beer nation. A total of nine restaurants and operators come together in a beer-centric environment that offers variety in terms of choice, atmosphere and design. The result is a destination that is versatile, inviting and vibrant – as natural for a weekday dinner as for a social evening with friends.
The name refers to Tjärhovsgränd and to the alley as a place: intimate, secluded and with its own character. It creates an environment where the pace slows down, where people meet, discover and take part in the city in a new way. The atmosphere reflects the energy of a hidden neighborhood, where new experiences await around every corner.
Söderhallarna, an iconic postmodern building, is currently undergoing an extensive renovation. The now blue-rated building has been both loved and reviled. When the doors reopen, the idea is that you will recognize yourself, but at the same time feel that this is something completely different from before.

“The new Söderhallarna will be characterized by hand-picked operators who all have a drive and a passion for food and drink, whether it’s microbrewed beer or gastronomic experiences. Gränd will create a nice pulse right through the house. It will be like that secret backstreet that exists in every big city, with its very own atmosphere and character, where you just want to hang out and go from place to place,” says Mattias Roussakoff, Leasing Manager Food & Beverage at Atrium Ljungberg, which is behind the development of the new Söderhallarna.
SDG is responsible for the whole of Gränd – from project planning and concept development to the selection of operators, operation and management. By handpicking knowledgeable microbrewers and experienced operators, a beer and food concept with an international flavor is created, where each nation is represented through both drinks and gastronomy.

“Gränd will be a destination for high-end food and drink in a super cool postmodern icon in the middle of Söder. In combination with the investment Atrium Ljungberg is doing in Söderhallarna, Gränd will be a unique complement, but also a clear stand-alone destination and an obvious reason to visit Söderhallarna.” says Ricard Constantinou, Concept and Business Development, SDG.

Gränd will be a timeless but dynamic restaurant hall where the patina over time only strengthens the character of the environment. Everything from glassware and ceramics to trays, baskets and cutlery reflects the beer-centric experience. Together, they create a place where guests are enticed to return to their favorites – but also to try something new.
Preliminary opening is planned for the end of 2026.
